Marcus Maddox is an artist whose photographs are concerned with human intimacy. His images of young people across American cities instill a cinematic atmosphere in an otherwise mundane reality. He sets out to express what feels personal in his work; to materialize his world view with a keen sense of design. He believes in the power of a good sequence, and that the best home for a photograph is a book.

Maddox’s work has been exhibited in museums and galleries internationally. His work has been collected by the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art. His slideshow exhibition, Hey Lover, premiered at the Roxy Cinema in New York in 2024. His work has appeared in publications including, The New York Times, Interview Magazine, TIME, The New Yorker, American Chordata, and New York Magazine.
