Pom Poms Vol. 1

Pom Poms Vol. 1 is an artist book and slideshow exhibition of photographs taken between 2016 and 2018 of the Nashville DIY music scene. It is a personal record of the relationships between musicians and concertgoers throughout the city. To me, the crux of what makes up a music scene is the audiences that go to see artists at shows. My intention is to capture all the moments in between and after those shows. Both the book and slideshow incorporate elements of romanticism, chronicling the days of my early twenties. The title derives from the tufts used by cheerleaders, pointing to the thematic element of cheering crowds at concerts. It is also used as an acronym for "Pictures of Many People of Music Scenes."
